Brazilian people by José Ferraz de Almeida Junior
A priest from a place called José Ferraz de Almeida Junior (1850-1899) managed to raise funds for his studies in Rio de Janeiro. The Emperor D. Pedro II granted him a scholarship so that he could improve his learning in Paris (1876). He portrayed for the first time the Brazilian people in their daily lives. He was stabbed to death by his lover’s husband.
Um Padre da localidade de José Ferraz de Almeida Junior (1850-1899) conseguiu angariar fundos para os seus estudos no Rio de Janeiro. O Imperador D. Pedro II concedeu-lhe uma bolsa para se aperfeiçoar em Paris (1876). Retratou pela primeira vez o povo Brasileiro no seu dia-a-dia. Morreu apunhalado pelo marido da sua amada.
