Knights and ladies of Malta by Antoine de Favray


The Order of Malta, a designation given in 1530, came from Palestine during the Crusades (11th century) with the name of the Knights Hospitaller or St. John (the Baptist) in Jerusalem.

A Ordem de Malta, designação atribuída em 1530, surgiu na Palestina durante as Cruzadas (séc. XI) com o nome de Ordem dos Hospitalários ou de São João (Baptista) de Jerusalém.
