Seville (Sevilha)

This city in Andalusia situated near the Guadalquivir River was Hispalis for Turdetani people (12th century BC). It suffered several occupations by the Romans (206 BC), the Visigoths (6th century), the Moors (VIII century), and the French (1810). During the conquest of America, the “Casa de Contratación” (current “General Archive of the Indies”) was run in this city. It became famous for its saints (St. Isidore), painters (Velazquez, Murillo), monuments (Cathedral, Giralda), religious feasts (Holy Week) April’s Feast, bullfights, matadors (Gitanillo de Triana), Flamenco.


Esta cidade da Andaluzia situada junto ao rio Guadalquivir seria a Hispalis dos Turdetanos (séc. XII aC). Sofreu diversas ocupações: Romanos (206 aC), Visigodos (Séc. VI), Mouros (séc. VIII), Franceses (1810). Durante a conquista da América funcionou na cidade a 'Casa de Contratación' (actual Arquivo de Índias). Tornou-se célebre pelos seus Santos (Santo Isidoro), pintores (Velázquez, Murillo), monumentos (Catedral, Giralda), festas religiosas (Semana Santa), feira de Abril, corridas de touros, toureiros (Gitanillo de Triana), Flamenco.
