Paris - Avenue des Champs Elysées

O projecto desta famosa avenida data de 1667 e deve-se ao arquitecto André Le Nôtre (1613-1700). Situa-se entre as praças da Concórdia e Charles de Gaule (Étoile). Possui 70 metros de largura e um comprimento de cerca de 2 km. Encontra-se ladeada de cafés, lojas e hotéis de luxo. Servem-na 3 estações do Metro. Napoleão III comemorou a sua coroação como Imperador com a colocação duma estátua dedicada a Napoleão I da autoria do escultor Alfred Émilien O'Hara. Na mesma, erguida no 'rond-point', existia a inscrição 'Fête du 15 Août 1852'.


The building plan of the famous avenue dates from 1667 and is due to the architect André Le Nôtre (1613-1700). It lies between the squares of Concorde and Charles de Gaulle (Étoile). It is 70 meters wide and about 2 km long. It is lined with cafes, shops and luxury hotels. It integrates three underground stations. Napoleon III celebrated his coronation as Emperor by placing there a statue by the sculptor Alfred Émilien O'Hara dedicated to Napoleon I. The statue, which was erected at the 'rond-point', had the inscription 'Fête du 15 Août 1852. "
