O sexo feminino possuía acentuada importância na Mitologia Nórdica, inclusive a nível guerreiro. Idun guardava as 'maçãs da imortalidade' numa caixa de madeira de freixo.


Women had a striking importance in Norse Mythology, including in the war field. Idun kept the 'apples of immortality' in a box of ash-tree wood.
