Pão nosso de cada dia (Our daily bread)

Há 3 zonas principais de consumo de cereais: milho nas Américas; arroz na Ásia; trigo na bacia mediterrânica e Próximo Oriente. O pão de trigo e outros cereais continuam a ser a base da alimentação dos povos das zonas referidas. Foram ou são regiões de escasso consumo de carne, além da fornecida por aves, peixe e porcos. Os elementos destas populações já foram conhecidos por 'macarroneros'.


There are three main areas of cereals’ consumption: maize in the Americas, rice in Asia and wheat in the Mediterranean basin and near east. Wheat bread and other cereals are still the staple diet of the peoples from the areas mentioned above. They were or are still areas of low consumption of meat, besides the one provided by poultry, fish, and pigs. People from these areas were once known as 'pasta eaters'.
