A nightmare is considered as a harrowing dream disturbance, characterized by chest tightness and shortness of breath and an agitated wakening. In the past nightmares were attributed to demons (incubus), whose aim was to smother sleeping people.
Entende-se por pesadelo a perturbação angustiante do sonho, caracterizada por opressão torácica e dispneia e despertar agitado. No passado atribuíram-no a demónios (incubus) destinados a sufocar as pessoas adormecidas.
