Hephaistos or Hephaestus, son of Zeus and Hera, was born on Mount Olympus. According to legend, his mother, disgusted with his face, threw him out so the child broke a leg and became lame. By his father’s wish, Hephaestus, when adult, returned home in the company of Dionysus.
Kleophon painter-'return of Hephaestus on Olimp, with Dionysos and his thiasos'-pelike-attic-(red-figure)-(440-430 BC) München-Staatlische Antikensammlungen (Munich 2361)
