Maximilian Hapsburg Emperor of Mexico (1864-1867)


The Austrian Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian Joseph Maria of Habsburg-Lorraine (1832-1867) married Carlota Amalia, daughter of Leopold I of Belgium. He met a Mexican delegation at the Castle of Miramar (Trieste) on 3 October 1863 that appointed him as Emperor. He arrived in Veracruz on 28 May the following year aboard the Frigate Novara from the Austrian fleet. On 15 May 1867 he was handed over to the Republicans. By order of President Benito Juarez he was shot down on 19 June at the Cerro Campanas in Querétaro.

O arquiduque Austríaco Fernando Maximiliano José Maria de Habsburgo-Lorena (1832-1867) casou com Carlota Amália, filha de Leopoldo I da Bélgica. Encontrou-se com uma delegação Mexicana no Castelo de Miramar (Trieste) a 3 de Outubro de 1863 que o elegeu Imperador. Chegou a Veracruz a 28 de Maio do ano seguinte a bordo da Fragata Novara da esquadra da Áustria. A 15 de Maio de 1867 entregaram-no aos republicanos. Por determinação do presidente Benito Juárez fuzilaram-no a 19 de junho no Cerro das Campanas em Querétaro.
