Constance Council by Ulrich von Richental

Aiming to end the papal schism, as three popes had assumed to be legitimately elected, Sigismund, Holy Roman Emperor, took the initiative to promote this Council. It took place from November 5, 1414 to April 24, 1418. It decided to accept the resignation of Gregory XII, the deposition of John XXIII, the election of Martin V and the convictions of John Wyclif and Jan Hus.
