The Independence of the USA by Jean-L.-G. Ferris

Greek independence 1821


The fight for the Greek independence against the Ottoman Empire began with a peasants’ revolt followed by another one promoted by merchants. The first years after liberation were not peaceful.

A luta pela independência grega contra o domínio do Império Otomano começou com uma revolta de camponeses seguida de outra promovida pelos comerciantes. Não foram pacíficos os primeiros anos após a libertação.

Independence of Brasil (Dom Pedro)


The presence of the Portuguese court, running away from Napoleon, was felt in 1808. Seven years later the United Kingdom of Portugal and Brazil was created. The departure of the court to Lisbon in 1821, due to the anti-British revolution, favored Brazil’s independence the following year, owing to the participation of prince Dom Pedro, the future emperor.

A presença da corte portuguesa, em fuga a Napoleão, verificou-se em 1808. Sete anos depois criou-se o reino unido Portugal-Brasil. A partida da corte para Lisboa no ano de 1821 devido a revolução anti-Britânica favoreceu a independência no ano seguinte devido à participação do príncipe D. Pedro, futuro imperador.

Independência dos EUA (American Revolutionary war 1775-1783)

Os rebeldes Americanos das colónias Inglesas suportaram duras batalhas durante a Guerra da Independência. Receberam apoio Francês prestado pelo Marquês de Lafayette. Posteriormente federaram-se e formaram os EUA.


The North-American rebels of English colonies endured fierce battles during the War of Independence. They received French support provided by the Marquis de Lafayette. Later the colonies federated and formed the USA.
