Vatican City State

This city-state, a walled enclave of 44 acres located on the right bank of the Tiber, was established in 1929 by the Lateran Treaty. The Holy Apostolic See is headquartered in its facilities. It comprises gardens, museums, a library, archive, and palaces.

Esta cidade-estado, enclave muralhado de 44 hectares situado na margem direita do Tibre, ficou estabelecida em 1929 pelo Tratado de Latrão. Nas suas instalações encontra-se sediada a Santa Sé Apostólica. Possui jardins, museus, biblioteca, arquivo e palácios.

The Vatican by Bernardino di Betto or Pinturicchio (1454-1513)

A native of Perugia, in Umbria, he initially worked with Pietro Vannucci or Perugino (1446-1524) in the frescoes of Cappella Sistina. The Della Rovere family hired him to paint frescoes of a series of chapels of the Roman church of Santa Maria del Popolo. He returned to the Vatican to work in the frescoes of the Borgia Apartments, which are part of the current Vatican Library.


Natural de Perúgia na Úmbria, trabalhou inicialmente com Pietro Vannucci or Perugino (1446-1524) nos frescos da Cappella Sistina. A família Della Rovere contratou-o para executar os frescos de várias capelas da igreja romana de Santa Maria del Popolo. Voltou ao Vaticano para trabalhar nos frescos dos Apartamentos Bórgia, parte da actual Biblioteca Apostólica Vaticana.
