Londres de outros tempos (Old London)

A sua antiguidade remonta à época em que os romanos ocuparam a ilha. Denominaram-na Londinium. A Torre de Londres, situada na margem esquerda do Tamisa, foi fortaleza construídana zona romana por Guilherme, o Conquistador (1027-1087). A Ponte de Londres conservou durante muito tempo a sua estrutura da Idade Média. A antiga City of London instalou-se na estrutura medieval. Sofreu o Grande Incêndio de 1666. Possui quatro monumentos considerados Patrimonio Mundial: Torre de Londres (Her Majety' Royal Palace and Fortress the Tower of London); Greenwich; Kew Garden (Royal Botanic); conjunto arquitectónico palácio e Abadia de Westminster, igreja de Santa Margarida.
