The Italian artist Carlo Labruzzi (1748.1818) devoted much of his attention to drawing the sites of the book Via Appia Rome ab urbe ad Capuam (1794) during the expedition promoted by the Maecenas Richard Colt Hoare.

At the end of the 18th century the Frenchman Charles-Louis Clérisseau (1722-1820) drew and painted several monuments of Rome.

Scenes of street life in Rome by Jan Miel (1599-1663)

The Flemish Jan Miel (1599-1663) worked in Rome from 1636 to 1658, the year he left for Turin. He painted scenes of street life just like other painters of his home region, who were for this reason called Bamboccianti.
